Two Jaguars players named 2024 NFLPA All-Pros

Jacksonville Jaguars punter Logan Cooke and long-snapper Ross Matiscik have been named 2024 All-Pros by the NFL Players Association (NFLPA).

According to the NFLPA, only active NFL players can vote for this honor. In addition to that, each player only gets on vote. If a player missed five-plus games as of Week 15, they cannot be voted for.

Players cannot vote for themselves or their own teammates, but do vote for the position group they play in and line up against weekly.

Cooke would finish the regular season averaging nearly 50 yards per punt attempt and his net average of 44.8 yards was the second-best mark in football, which is also a credit to the rest of the Jaguars’ punt coverage unit.

By PFF’s metrics, Cooke was also top-five in punts downed inside the 20 yard line this season, had only three touchbacks the entire season, and was 12th among all punters in return rate, illustrating that the opportunities for opponents against Cooke were limited.

Measuring the effectiveness of a long-snapper can obviously be difficult, but Matiscik’s peers think quite highly of his play, as does Pro Football Focus’ grading system.

Out of all long-snappers in 2024, Matiscik had the second-best special teams grade. Accuracy of the snap, velocity, and holding up as a blocker are all key elements when it comes to being an effective long-snapper.
