I’m the type of iPhone user that typically doesn’t use a case. Will I put one on my phone when I’m in a particularly active situation? Sure. But for every day use, I go case-less. I recognize what a case can provide as far as protection goes, but I just don’t think that it’s 100% necessary for most tasks. With that said, I think it makes sense that a non-traditional style case such as the Arc Pulse would stand out to me. I was fortunate enough to be able to try it out with my iPhone 15 Pro Max so when I upgraded to the iPhone 16 Pro Max, I couldn’t wait to try out the Arc Pulse again.

There is no specific explanation on why the prices vary between the different finish options.

    User Experience

The Arc Pulse comes in a simple box that is reminiscent of a jewelry box. Each section of the case is housed inside packaging foam and there are no advanced features that require any connection to a smart phone or assembly for set up. One of the things I was most interested in finding out is if Arc had upgraded the case for the newest iPhone models or if it was basically the same case. The primary difference between the two models lies in their compatibility with the specific dimensions and design elements of the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro Max, respectively.

Each Arc Pulse case is precision-engineered to match the exact specifications of its corresponding iPhone model, ensuring a perfect fit and optimal protection. Therefore, while the core features and materials remain consistent, the Arc Pulse for iPhone 16 Pro Max is tailored to accommodate any design changes or dimensional differences introduced with the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Arc Pulse is available for several different iPhone models (13+) as well as a couple of additional smart phones.

As I noted in the Pricing & Availability section above, there are several finish variations with varying price points. This is surprising to me since they are all fundamentally the same case (with the exception of the Titanium version). And while the case is custom fit and molded for the iPhone, it is priced substantially higher than other cases for the iPhone. For example, the Aluminum Matte Black variant of the Arc Pulse is priced at $69.99. If you compare that to the Apple Silicon Case with MagSafe ($49.00), the Arc Pulse is approximately 42% higher than the Apple case. Some other popular case manufacturers — CaseMate and UAG — have cases that with prices that are closer to the Arc Pulse, but it’s still a mystery why the variants have such different prices.

Now, in terms of how well the Arc Pulse performs, I was pleasantly surprised when I installed it on my iPhone 15 Pro Max and it was approximately the same experience when I put it on my iPhone 16 Pro Max. Each segment slides onto a corner of the phone and then you use it normally. Because the back is exposed, you can still use MagSafe-compatible devices and it provides that much-needed impact safety for the iPhone. The phone is still susceptible to scratches and dents if caught at the right angle but for the most part, the elevation the Arc Pulse provides protects the iPhone against major disasters.

    Conclusion

The Arc Pulse for iPhone 16 Pro Max delivers a bold reimagination of minimalist smartphone protection. By prioritizing elegance and design over traditional bulk, it offers a striking alternative to mainstream cases. While its unique style and high-quality materials stand out, the premium pricing and lack of advanced features may not suit every user. For those seeking a blend of sophistication and functionality, the Arc Pulse makes a compelling choice.
