How did Rhea Ripley get her start?
Ripley, an Australian native, got her start in the independent wrestling circuit around 2013. Though she had always dreamed of joining WWE, Ripley was originally denied her audition because she was too young at the time. (At the time, it appeared that competitors had to be at least 21 years old to join WWE, though according to their website the minimum age is 18.)
Some time after her first denial, however, Ripley told an Australian news outlet that WWE contacted her for another shot.

"I got an email and I thought, 'Oh, this can't be right,'" she said at the time. "I thought it was one of my friends pranking me, but as soon as I spoke to some other people who got tryouts they told me it was legit."
She added: "I think it is very achievable and I am hoping next year I will get a tryout, so I can show them what I've got and hopefully they will sign me."
After joining the WWE in 2017, she quickly rose to the top as one of the fiercest competitors in the game, and has multiple championships under her belt, including the NXT UK Women's Championship and the Women's World Championship. She is also a one-time WWE Women's Tag Team Champion and one-time Raw Women's champion.
