Giving the first handful of weeks to let players get acclimated to all of the launch heroes and the meta that came with them, and events like the winter celebration, developer NetEase has let us know when we can play as the Fantastic Four.

What’s more, we’ve been treated to a big enemy who’s a bit of a shocker as well.

Here’s everything to know about Marvel Rivals season 1 so far.

The release date for Marvel Rivals season 1 is Friday, 10th January 2025 at 1AM PST / 9AM GMT / 3AM CT.

This was confirmed in the above X (formerly Twitter) post that also contains the season’s trailer, revealing its full name – Season 1: Eternal Night Falls.

As the next couple of seasons arrive, we’ll be able to compare it to the seasonal release schedules of other live-service games; Fortnite, CoD BO6, FC 25, etc; and see if it will follow the same manner of pattern where a next season will start as soon as the current one ends.

The Fantastic Four, gameplay & rumoured upcoming characters

The confirmed release date of Marvel Rivals season 1 NetEase Games

Watching the Marvel Rivals season 1 trailer, you’ll see an interesting narrative twist of Dracula being introduced as a surprise villain who teams up with Doctor Doom and unleashes vampiric creatures across the world.

To put a stop to it, Marvel Rivals Season 1: Eternal Night Falls will see the Fantastic Four be introduced to the game and team up with the game’s other heroes.

As for gameplay, the new season is also rumoured to introduce new maps themed around New York City; the post announcing the Fantastic Four has the hashtag New York City attached, so these rumours appear to be on the money, with the home of Marvel’s First Family likely to feature.

Season 1 will also come with a fresh battle pass for players to complete, including skins, in-game currency, emotes, sprays, and more.

It’s still unknown how big the battle pass will be, as season 0 only had a mini one due to being a short season.

Fortunately, NetEase Games has confirmed all new characters will be added to the game for free, not requiring purchase separately. This means the Fantastic Four will be playable for everyone.

It’s a welcome inclusion to live service, which can often lock specific goodies behind paywalls. Because it looks like four new characters will be released, we predict they will drop sporadically throughout the first season, but we will have to wait and see.

Other new characters rumoured for Marvel Rivals

In a leak by X user Marvel Rival News, other characters have been teased as well:

Angela  Blade Captain Marvel  Deadpool  Emma Frost  Hit-Monkey  Jean Grey  The Hood Valkyrie

Those characters are still yet to be confirmed, though we’d speculate Blade would be one of the first due to his vampiric origins and abilities. No matter which way, we’ll update this guide as soon as we know more.

There’s plenty for fans to get excited about right now, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds, either.
