ATLANTA Falcons star running back Bijan Robinson was choked up after his team brutally missed the playoffs.
The Falcons lost 44-38 to the Carolina Panthers in the Week 18 regular-season finale game on Sunday.
Robinson dominated from start to finish in Atlanta’s last game of the regular season.
The 22-year-old recorded a career-high 170 rushing yards on 28 rush attempts and two touchdowns, including two receptions for three yards.
However, the Falcons’ playoff hopes came to an end after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win over the New Orleans Saints.
They would’ve won the NFC South with a win and a Bucs loss.
After the home loss, the second-year Robinson was on the verge of tears as he addressed the season and his future.
“You know, it’s tough. It’s tough not completing the goals you guys have set, you know as a team, falling short of that,” Robinson said, via Fox 5 Sports’ Kelly Price.
“And for us, like we had such a bright mindset to want to go out there and be best every single game or every single play.
“But we understand that in the NFL, we got to do it every single week. We can’t hold ourselves back from anything on the field.”
After the loss, the Atanta star is up for the challenge of attempting to win a Super Bowl next year.
“I’m ready to go. Like, I could play another season right now. It’s how fired up I am about what we have got,” Robinson added.
“And I think that this offense in this team shows what we can do and how it’s supposed to be.”
The Falcons missed the playoffs for the seventh consecutive year.
They allowed the now-five-win Carolina squad to record its first 40-point game since Week 9 of the 2018 season.
The Panthers totaled 425 total yards on Sunday, and they marched down the field in overtime before the team’s running back Miles Sanders to end the game with a one-yard touchdown.
Atlanta rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr. ended the day completing 21-of-38 passes for 312 yards and two touchdowns along with an interception.
He also rushed for a score.
Robinson finished the season with 1,456 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on 304 rush attempts.
He posted multiple rushing touchdowns in five games.
The Falcons ended their 2024 campaign with an 8-9 record.
