College football’s conference realignment recently took a turn. The Big Ten and SEC reportedly did not have as much interest in Florida State with their recent ACC turmoil, and there were rumors that the Seminoles and Clemson were being heavily pursued by the Big 12.
There is definitely some merit to these reports, but I tend to think they’re being overblown. The reality feels like, at some point, the Big Ten and SEC are both going to want more and when the opportunities come when programs such as FSU and Clemson aren’t in legal battles, they’ll swoop them up. Mind you, when I say college football’s realignment, I mean specific to the Big Ten and SEC, bringing in teams from other conferences.
