Not even building a house from the ground up can get in the way of Eric Stonestreet and fiancée Lindsay Schweitzer's relationship.
In fact, the Modern Family alum exclusively tells Parade that despite people saying "it's the most stressful thing you can do," working on their "dream home" has only brought them closer together.

"I can't believe it. I've always wanted to do that," Stonestreet says of building the couple's forever home in Kansas City, Mo., while promoting his partnership with Kidde and their new collection of Smart Smoke and Combination Alarms with Ring App integration. "It's been incredible. I knew Lindsay and I were great partners when we met, and this has just proven that we're great together, and we find compromise in everything we do."
Noting that the process has strengthened their bond even more, Stonestreet tells Parade that it was the conflict he and Schweitzer faced that solidified their union as future husband and wife.
"Whenever you have any kind of confrontation with the person you love, you always come out stronger on the other side," he says. "It feels empowering when two people who know they're not going anywhere find a little conflict, whether it's over what color the kitchen island is going to be or whether it's over something way more serious. You always end up feeling closer and stronger and more of a bond to your partner."

That said, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Stonestreet has linked up with Kidde ahead of the release of their new smart devices collection, which is slated to exclusively hit Home Depot in April.
"Kidde is definitely in our house. They're in the house we live in now, they're in my mom's house," he tells Parade. "They're a great line of defense, and we're happy to put them in our house."
The new collection of Kidde's smart devices provide quicker and more accurate alerts to unsafe levels of smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) in the home and also minimize false alarms, which helps prevent people from turning off their devices.
Additionally, the new smart devices will have the option to integrate Ring, which will alert customers in real time through the app when unsafe levels of smoke or CO are detected. Customers will also have 24/7 access to trained agents who can request emergency help if needed and alert the customer's emergency contacts.

"It's really just an incredible product," Stonestreet tells Parade. "With the Ring app—anywhere you are in the world—if I'm away and Lindsay's home and the carbon monoxide levels get too high in the house, [you get alerted]. Because people forget about that. We always think about smoke and fire, but carbon monoxide is unseeable and unknowable until the levels are too high. So it's great that this will now alert you when you're away from your house or anywhere in the world through the Ring app. And Kidde detects [it] through some of their smart technology as well. You can do it without Ring, but it's great that Ring and Kidde are now together."
Kidde's new collection of smart devices, including the Kidde Smart Smoke Alarm with Ring ($54.97) and Kidde Smart Smoke + CO Alarm with Ring ($74.97), will be available exclusively at Home Depot starting in April, followed by additional retailers later in 2025.
