FURIOUS Wicked fans have claimed Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande’s hit film was “robbed” after picking up just one Golden Globes gong.
The musical’s stars failed to bewitch the judges at the 2025 awards ceremony as they were snubbed for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress.
Instead, Wicked won the award for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement after making $450.7million in seven weeks.
However, The Golden Globe Awards 2025 is now facing backlash after Emilia Pérez became the big winner with four awards.
One fan said: “Wicked was robbed you can’t tell me different. Hopefully part 2 gets the recognition they ALL deserve.”
Another added: “Please don’t tell me this is a preview of the Oscar’s … I’ve turned this show off 5 times already , Cynthia was ROBBED and I stand by it.”
Someone else said: “Saw #wicked just in time to say that Cynthia Erivo was absolute robbed of her Golden Globe.”
Wicked is the second-ever film to get the honor of Cinematic and Box Office Achievement after the award was won by Barbie in 2024.
It’s led some Wicked fans to fear the film will follow in Barbie’s footsteps with a “disappointing” awards season.
Despite the cultural phenomenon of ‘Barbenheimer’, Barbie won just one Oscar during the 96th Academy Awards, with Billie Eilish and Finneas receiving the Oscar for Best Original Song for What Was I Made For?, with Oppenheimer taking home seven awards.
One fan said: “The Cinematic and Box Office Achievement Award? It’s just a consolidation award.
“I am so sad that Wicked won this only because it feels like it has nothing to do with performances and ticket sales. They deserve so many more awards tonight.”
