Demi Moore is celebrating a career first after taking home the award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy at the 2025 Golden Globes for her role in The Substance.
And while Sunday night's win marked her first Golden Globe, it also marked her first award as an actress—ever.
"I really wasn't expecting that. I'm just in shock right now," Moore said during her emotional acceptance speech. "I've been doing this for a long time, over 45 years now and this is the first time ever I've won anything as an actor. I'm so humbled and so grateful."

Moore went on to share a story about a producer who told her 30 years ago that she was a "popcorn actress," which caused her to think that she wasn't deserving of major awards nor acting in "movies that were successful and made a lot of money."
Choking back tears, she continued, "I believed that. And that corroded me over time to the point where I thought a few years ago that maybe this was it. Maybe I was complete. Maybe I've done what I'm supposed to do."

— Golden Globes (@goldenglobes) January 6, 2025Noting that she was at a "low point" when the "bold, courageous, out-of-the-box" script for The Substance landed in her hands, Moore said she experienced a "magical" moment from the universe that told her she wasn't done.
"One thing that I think this movie is imparting is in those moments when we don’t think we’re smart enough, or pretty enough, or skinny enough, or successful enough, or basically just not enough," she continued. "I had a woman say to me, 'Just know, you will never be enough, but you can know the value of your worth if you just put down the measuring stick.' And so today I celebrate this as a marker of my wholeness and of the love that is driving me. And for the gift of doing something I love and being reminded that I do belong. Thank you so much.”
While Moore was celebrating onstage, her family was celebrating equally as hard in the comfort of their living room.
Her daughters, including Rumor Willis, Tallulah Willis and Scout Willis, were seen cheering and jumping up and down after hearing their mom's name announced.
"Mama D! Golden Globe winner!" they screamed in a video via Rumer's Instagram Story Sunday night.
