Matt Rife has his fellow comedians’ backs.
While on the red carpet at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, the 29-year-old exclusively told Parade that he supports host Nikki Glaser in whatever she decides to do when it comes to her punchlines for the big night.
“I think she's gonna crush it,” he told Parade. “She's been murdering for over a decade. It's so nice for people to finally take notice in what a force she is in comedy.”
When asked about the ongoing drama between It Ends With Us co-stars Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively, who have been engaged in a legal dispute regarding their alleged behavior on set of the popular film adaptation, Rife said, “It’s messy.”

Glaser, 40, previously said she wouldn’t touch upon the headlines involving the actors. Rife feels “it's her choice” to draw that line, adding, “She doesn't have to talk about anything that she doesn't want to, and she can talk about whatever she does want to. I think if she decides to make a joke about it, it's going to be killer, and she has every right to do so, and if she doesn’t, she's going to make fun of a million other things going on. Just read the room.”
As for his own personal feelings about comedy regarding hot-button issues, Rife told Parade, “[It’s] personal preference. I feel like [if] I have something funny to say about a certain topic, I'll talk about it. If not, I'm not going to do it. I’m not going to say something just for the sake of shock factor, but if I can come up with a clever punch-line about a topic that might be a little edgy or draw some "Woos," maybe I’ll dip my toe in the water.”
Would Rife ever take on such a heavy topic like It Ends With Us himself? “I don't think I'm educated enough on the topic to talk about it,” he said, “but if I'm lucky enough to host this awards [show] someday soon, then maybe we'll take some jabs. We'll see!”
Lively, 37, filed a bombshell lawsuit against co-star and director Baldoni, 40, last month. The suit, which was first obtained by TMZ on Dec. 21, accused Baldoni of creating a "hostile work environment," causing Lively to make a list of demands that were reportedly addressed during filming.

Some of those demands included "no more showing nude videos or images of women to Blake, no more mention of Baldoni's alleged previous 'pornography addiction,' no more inquiries about Blake's weight, no more adding of sex scenes, oral sex or on camera climaxing by BL outside the scope of the script BL approved when signing onto the project," and more, according to the outlet. Additionally, the suit accused Baldoni of orchestrating a smear campaign against the Gossip Girl actress.
Baldoni's lawyer, Bryan Freedman, denied Lively's claims in a statement to Parade, calling the allegations "shameful" and "categorically false."
Baldoni’s attorney said they "absolutely" plan to sue Lively after having already filed a libel lawsuit against the New York Times for a story alleging that Baldoni orchestrated a smear campaign against Lively.
The legal drama between the two began after a slew of rumors that Lively and Baldoni were at odds while filming the movie adaptation of the popular Colleen Hoover novel.
The 82nd Annual Golden Globes airs live Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. Cord cutters can stream on Paramount+ in the U.S. (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the special airs).
