Geno Smith is a much richer man than when the day started.
While the Seattle Seahawks were officially eliminated from the postseason last weekend, there was still a lot to play for in Week 18.
Specifically for quarterback Geno Smith.
He had $6 million reasons to play well, and to win.
Heading into his last game of the season agains the Los Angeles Rams, Smith needed 186 more yards to set a new single-season career high and cash in on a $2 million bonus.
He finished with 223 yards (and four touchdowns).
Checkmate.
The bonus income didn’t stop there.
Smith cashed in on another $2 million bonus by achieving a career high completion percentage, completing over 70% of his passes this season.
His previous career high was 69.8%.
Again, the bonuses didn’t stop there.
On top of the extra $4 million, Smith received an additional $2 million for the 30-25 victory over the Rams, giving Seattle 10 on the season.

While Smith would surely much rather have made the playoffs, $6 million isn’t a bad consolation prize.
