Robby Ashford will be continuing his collegiate career at Wake Forest.
The former Auburn and South Carolina quarterback shared that news with multiple reporters on Sunday morning. ESPN’s Pete Thamel was first to share the news:

— Pete Thamel (@PeteThamel) January 5, 2025Ashford spoke to Thamel about his decision. The former SEC quarterback cited the ability to play for Jake Dickert, who previously guided Cam Ward and John Mateer to excellent seasons at Washington State. Dickert took the Wake Forest job earlier this offseason after Dave Clawson announced his decision to step down.
“Just what Coach Dickert is building, and his vision for the program and wanting to win now,” Robby Ashford told ESPN of his decision to join Wake Forest. “And the opportunity to come in and be the guy.”
Ashford spent 1 season at South Carolina. He was the backup for LaNorris Sellers and played sparingly this season aside from games against LSU and Akron when Sellers was dealing with an injury.
He was excellent as a passer in his short stint in the role. He completed 23-of-32 passes for 324 yards, 2 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. He also rushed for 227 yards and 2 more scores on the ground.
