Robertson grew up on a farm outside of Toronto and dropped out of high school at the age of 16 to move to L.A., per the Los Angeles Times. She first worked as an assistant for writer-director Mike Binder (Indian Summer), then Hart Bochner (PCU) and Jay Roach (Meet the Parents).

However, she and Norton ended up founding the platform CrowdRise, which used crowdsourcing to fundraise for charitable causes. CrowdRise was later acquired by GoFundMe in 2017.

Norton and Robertson were introduced by actor Woody Harrelson.
“We met in London," Norton revealed in a 2022 episode of the SmartLess podcast. "Woody Harrelson and his wife introduced us. Woody was doing Night of the Iguana on the West End ... I was rehearsing a movie in New York and I was getting a little aggravated with the process and they were like, 'Can you do another day tomorrow?’”
Norton replied that he couldn’t, booked his ticket to London to visit Harrelson and ended up meeting his future wife.
