Classic Lamborghini gets ‘drastic change’ to exterior but drivers ‘hate it’ & insist iconic car ‘shouldn’t be butchered’

AN ICONIC and much-loved sports car has been given a dramatic make-over – leaving many fans rather unhappy.

The classic Lamborghini Miura is widely considered one of the finest autos ever created, combining a mixture of class, style and speed.

However, Liberty Walk, a well-respected Japanese tuning company that specializes in creating wide-body kits, has recently unveiled a design for the Miura that hasn’t gone down particularly well with passionate gearheads.

In their concept design pictures, the Miura appears to sit lower than the standard model, with the body kit adding aggressive dive planes, louvers, and a massive rear spoiler.

This new kit, which will be officially debuted at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon on January 10, greatly contrasts everything that fans love about the Miura – which is known for its sleek, flowing lines.

Upon seeing the design pictures for the first time, one user on social media site X wrote: “This … is terrible.”

Another chimed in with: “Thanks, I hate it.

A third commented: “No, this doesn’t look right, the Miura is an icon and shouldn’t be butchered.”

However, not everyone was completely scathing of the new look.

One X user wrote: “They ruined it, but if you forget the heritage of the car, and what Lamborghini intended it to be, this thing does look pretty sick.”

Another said: “Good lord, I love the forbidden Miura.”

And a third simply said: “Beautiful.”

Details are sparse for now, and Liberty Walk could potentially announce mechanical changes to the supercar, too.

There’s also no details on pricing yet either, but Miura owners will be able to order the kit directly when it goes on sale next year.

First presented in 1965 at the Turin Auto Show, with the prototype debuting at the 1966 Geneva Motor Show, the Miura made history as the first supercar with a rear mid-engine and two-seat layout.

When it was released, the Miura was the fastest production car in the world with a top speed of nearly 174 mph.

Production of the car eventually ceased in 1973, with 763 Miuras built.

Over the years, the likes of Frank Sinatra, Rod Stewart and Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay have owned examples.

Back in June, we reported on how a 1970 Miura P400 S was found in the original owner’s living room, having sat for 24 years before being discovered.

Elsewhere, car fans will finally be able to get behind the wheel of a host of cult-favourite vehicles – as a little-known law comes into effect.

As we head into 2025, a plethora of very cool cars will become eligible for legal importation into the US under federal vehicle import law.

Cars that are at least 25 years old can now legally be brought into the US, even if they don’t meet all Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

This means some of your favourite vehicles released in the year 2000 from Europe, Japan, and even Australia can now take to US roads, including the outrageously cool Audi RS4 Avant.
