After the debacle at Wrigley Field, the Chicago Blackhawks took the first day of the new calendar year off. They’re back on the ice on Thursday to get ready to start the rest of their season.
As many of us do, perhaps some of the Blackhawks players made New Year’s resolutions. Maybe they didn’t. But here are some suggestions for the resolutions they might make for the new year.
Young Blackhawks Goals
Connor Bedard — sign a second NHL contract with an eight-figure AAV. Frank Nazar — stay in the NHL all year, make an impact Colton Dach — just recalled on Thursday morning, stay healthy in the NHL and show you can play there every night as a power forward Wyatt Kaiser — show you can skate 17-19 minutes every night, kill penalties and make an impact Alex Vlasic — stay healthy and play well enough that USA Hockey has to include you on the roster for the Olympics Nolan Allan — stay in the lineup every night, increase your responsibility, make an impact Landon Slaggert — get called up and show you can stick in the NHL permanently Lukas Reichel — show you can be at least a middle-six forward in the NHL every night. Shoot the puck at least three times every night. Start putting points on the board. Force the organization to move you up the lineup. Kevin Korchinski — be an every night NHL player, PP QB on Opening Night of the 2025-26 season Louis Crevier — show you’re an every-night NHL player Ethan Del Mastro — get called up and show you can stick in the NHL permanently Arvid Söderblom — continue to show you’re a viable NHL goaltender Isaak Phillips — get traded out of Chicago to get a full-time opportunity in the NHL Cole Guttman — get traded out of Chicago to get a full-time opportunity in the NHL Rob Gray-Imagn ImagesVeteran Blackhawks Goals
Nick Foligno — get the next generation of Blackhawks to come in and make the game fun again. And start seeing positive movement forward for the organization. Jason Dickinson — stay healthy and continue playing well enough to deserve Selke votes again this year Connor Murphy — stay healthy and help the young defensemen who come up stick in the NHL Teuvo Teräväinen — win the 4 Nations Face-Off, get to the 20-goal and 50-point marks by the end of the regular season Tyler Bertuzzi — score 25 goals this season, make it hard to take you off Bedard’s line even with young players coming Ryan Donato — score 20 goals, make the Blackhawks think about keeping your around beyond this season before the trade deadline Ilya Mikheyev — score 15-17 goals, stay healthy, continue to play excellent defensively Philipp Kurashev — get another chance to show you can play in the NHL and actually produce enough that someone will give you another contract in the league Petr Mrázek — stay healthy the rest of the way, try to remain sane with the play in front of you Laurent Brossoit — get shut down for the rest of the 2024-25 regular season so you’re totally healthy for the second year of your contract Joey Anderson — get traded out of Chicago to get a full-time opportunity in the NHL Seth Jones — get traded to a contender Taylor Hall — get traded to a contender Pat Maroon — get traded to a contender Craig Smith — get traded to a contender Alec Martinez — get traded to a contender TJ Brodie — get traded to a team with an opening on the blue line, be in the NHL next seasonTen Blackhawks Front Office Goals
I’m going to put these in order of priority:

Not be the worst team in the league at the end of the 2025 calendar year Get home games more easily accessible / appropriately priced so more fans can watch Retire Steve Larmer‘s No. 28 Bring back the black alternate jerseys Read More Details
