Are you not quite ready for the 2024 fantasy football season to end? Did you get knocked out of your Guillotine Leagues early and are looking for a chance at redemption? Well, do I have some good news for you! For the 2024 playoffs, Guillotineleagues.com has created several new contests and tournaments specifically for the postseason.
If you are unfamiliar with Guillotine Leagues, these are the grueling 17-week contests where one team from an 18-team league is chopped each week of the regular season. The playoff contests, however, are different in format and structure but still offer a fun sweat and big chase prizes to the winners. This piece will look at the different formats available for the postseason.
The Guillotine Leagues Chopionship
In the contest lobby of Guillotine Leagues, you will find various versions of The Chopionship tournament that lasts throughout the playoffs. In this league, you will select (not draft) 14 players (eight starters and six bench players, all from postseason teams) with a goal of beating at least 25% of the field each week. You are responsible for setting a starting lineup, but that lineup can change each week assuming your team advances. However, there are no waivers once the contest begins, so no adds or drops can be performed once the games begin.
Size and Entry Fees
For The Chopionship, there are contests with entry fees available at $15, $50, $100, and $200. The $100 and $200 contests consist of 25 teams in each field. The $15 contest has 500 players and the $50 contest has 100 entries. For each of these contests, the prize breakdown looks like this:
$200 Entry (25 teams):1st – $2,0002nd – $8003rd – $400
$100 Entry (25 teams):1st – $1,0002nd – $4003rd – $200
$50 Entry (100 teams):1st – $2,0002nd – $8003rd – $400
$15 Entry (500 teams):1st – $3,5002nd – $1,0003rd – $500
Contest Length
The league will last for four rounds with 25% of the field being chopped in these Guillotine Leagues each week until the final 25% play for the championship. The rounds of the tournament are:
1st Round – Wild Card Round2nd Round – Divisional Round3rd Round – Conference Championship Round4th Round – Super Bowl
Rosters
Each team will draft 14 players before the playoffs begin on the afternoon of Saturday, January 11th. These rosters will have eight starters and six bench players, with lineups required to start the following positions:
1 QB2 RB2 WR1 TE2 Flex (RB/WR/TE)
Once a starter’s game has begun, that player can be moved between their traditional positional designation and a Flex spot, but they may not be moved to the bench in favor of a player whose game has yet to begin.
The Guilloteenie
season Guilloteenie contests operate much like the regular season Guillotine Leagues, just with far fewer teams in each league. In each playoff round, one team is eliminated until just two teams remain to battle for the league win during the Super Bowl. In order to survive to the next round, teams must simply score more points than at least one team in the league to avoid being chopped.
Also like traditional Guillotine Leagues, when a team is eliminated in a Guilloteenie league, all of those players become free agents for every remaining team to bid on for the next round. The remaining teams may try to acquire them during a weekly waiver period.
Size and Entry Fees
For The Guilloteenie, there are contests with entry fees available at $30, $50, $100, and $250. All of these contests have five teams in each league. For each of these contests, the prize breakdown looks like this:
$250 Entry (5 teams):1st – $8002nd – $4003rd – $50
$100 Entry (5 teams):1st – $3002nd – $753rd – $50
$50 Entry (5 teams):1st – $1302nd – $503rd – $25
$30 Entry (5 teams):1st – $1002nd – $153rd – $10
Contest Length
The league will last for four rounds with the lowest-scoring team in each league being chopped in these Guillotine Leagues each week until the final two teams play for the championship. The rounds of the tournament are:
1st Round – Wild Card Round2nd Round – Divisional Round3rd Round – Conference Championship Round4th Round – Super Bowl
Rosters
Each team will draft eight players before the playoffs begin and all eight of these are starters. There are no bench spots in Guilloteenie leagues. The breakdown of the rosters is as follows:
1 QB (each team is limited to just one quarterback in the draft)2 RB2 WR1 TE2 Flex (RB/WR/TE)
Drafting
One note about drafting for these Guillotine Leagues playoff contests. Each Guilloteenie league has a 60-second timer on each pick. There are no slow drafts in this format. The Chopionship format does not have a draft, but rather each team selects the 14 players for their team and sets their starting lineup from that group.
