Georgia and Notre Dame were slated to kick off from New Orleans in the Sugar Bowl tonight at 8:45 p.m. ET. Instead, a horrific terrorist attack in New Orleans on New Year’s Eve forced the game to be rescheduled for Thursday at 4:00 p.m. ET.
The Bulldogs spent the majority of the day Wednesday locked down in their hotel rooms. On Wednesday night, the team loaded up into their buses and departed from the hotel for an impromptu practice. The buses were greeted by dozens of Georgia fans who cheered the team on.

— Brandon Marcello (@bmarcello) January 1, 2025In what was a hard day for everybody in the area, the team surely appreciated seeing their loyal fans sticking around to cheer them on. The Bulldogs and Fighting Irish will both get to practice tonight as they prepare for the matchup tomorrow.
The incident on Bourbon Street has so far been responsible for at least 15 deaths and dozens of injuries. Concerns for safety in and around New Orleans led to the postponement of the Sugar Bowl as an investigation into the attack was mounted.
The traveling parties for both teams have all been accounted for and are confirmed safe. Giving the teams more time not only helps ensure safety but also gives the players and coaches more time to process a scary situation.
The Bulldogs and Irish will kick off from New Orleans on Thursday with a trip to the Orange Bowl on the line.
