Arkansas saw exactly what it had in wide receiver Dazmin James, but now the freshman phenom is reportedly headed to the transfer portal, sources told Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports and 247Sports on Tuesday.
Just 4 days after James electrified Razorbacks fans in Memphis with 3 catches for 137 yards and a 94-yard touchdown that was both the longest TD catch and longest pass play in Hogs history, it appears James might be heading elsewhere for the 2025 season. James led Arkansas to a 39-26 victory over Texas Tech in the Liberty Bowl on Friday, and though the transfer portal technically closed on Dec. 28, players are given a 5-day window after their bowl or Playoff game to enter the portal.

— Matt Zenitz (@mzenitz) December 31, 2024That’s what James has apparently decided to do after 2 seasons in Fayetteville when he hardly saw the field. The 6-foot-2, 196-pound North Carolina product only earned playing time at the Liberty Bowl because of the departures of wide receivers Andrew Armstrong and Isaiah Sategna, who recently announced he’s transferring to Oklahoma.
James didn’t have a catch in his collegiate career before bursting onto the scene in a bowl victory that helped Arkansas finish with a winning season at 7-6. He was a late-rising recruit in the 2023 class who chose the Razorbacks over NC State and South Carolina.
