LEGENDARY college football coach Nick Saban has been touted for a huge career move.
The 73-year-old left Alabama earlier this year after leading the team to six national championships.
Saban has launched a broadcasting career after leaving coaching behind in January.
He currently appears on ESPN’s College GameDay as an expert analyst.
But Penn State coach James Franklin believes Saban’s in-depth knowledge of CFB football could be put to better use.
Franklin claims the sport needs a commissioner as it continues to evolve amid numerous format changes.
“I think one of the most important things we can do is, let’s get a commissioner of college football that is waking up every single morning and going to bed every single night making decisions that’s in the best interest of college football,” Franklin said, per ESPN.
“I think Nick Saban would be the obvious choice if we made that decision.
” Now, Nick will probably call me tonight and say, ‘Don’t do this,’ but I think he’s the obvious choice, right?”
“[We need to] move forward and come up with some solutions.”
Franklin has touted eliminating conference championship games so the season is shorter.
He has also suggested every conference play the same number of league games.
“When you have a committee sitting in a room trying to compare apples to apples, or oranges to oranges, it’s hard to do that when not everybody’s playing under the same model,” he continued.
“Get rid of the conference championship game.
“That will shorten the season and help with the window a little bit.
“Whenever you have people that are making decisions and running college football, they’re going to be biased towards what’s best to their conference.

“If every decision we make is based on money, then we’re heading in the wrong direction.”
Saban’s head coaching career started at the University of Toledo in 1990 where he instantly turned their program around.
After coaching LSU, Michigan State and in the NFL, Saban was named the head coach of Alabama in 2007.
He went on to win 6 National Championships, 11 SEC Championships, and racked up 206 wins with only 29 losses.
