Will Ferrell's fans are convinced he just showed them what the "South Pole Elf" version of his iconically cheery character, Buddy, would look like.
Over the weekend, the actor and comedian was spotted in the stands at a game between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Los Angeles Kings. He stole the show and subsequently went viral for his festive and familiar ensemble that featured a near-replica of the outfit his character wore in the 2003 blockbuster holiday film, Elf.

While those around the 57-year-old during Sunday's game at the Crypto.com Arena rocked the garb of the hockey team they were there to cheer on, Ferrell's decision to reprise the look of one of his most beloved roles during his appearance and facial expressions earned him a fair amount of attention.
Throughout the game, Ferrell—seated between his wife Viveca Paulin and their youngest son, Axel, who turns 15 next month—was caught on camera looking rather glum with what appeared to be a cigarette in his mouth and, at other moments, gulping a beer.

One fan joked alongside a now-viral clip of the Dec. 29 family outing, "Buddy the Elf isn't looking too good these days... ??."
