AARON RODGERS was left stunned in angry disbelief after a penalty was called on him during the New York Jets’ mauling by the Buffalo Bills.
The four-time NFL MVP was BENCHED with more than 12 minutes to play in the fourth quarter with the Jets down 40-0 against their rivals.
Rodgers, 41, endured one of the worst performances of his career, throwing two interceptions and being sacked for a safety.
Backup Tyrod Taylor threw two touchdowns in relief just to rub salt into Rodgers’ wounds.
And it was on one of those interceptions that left Rodgers seeting.
After he was picked off by Christian Benford, Rodgers was penalized for chasing down the cornerback and pushing him out of bounds.
The officials ruled that Benford was already out of bounds when Rodgers made contact and called an unnecessary roughness penalty on him.
His scoreless game means Rodgers was left stuck on 499 career touchdowns, while his four sacks mean he is now the most sacked QB of all time (568) ahead of Tom Brady (565).
Rodgers said after the game: “It’s kind of like the season. Too many games got away from us.
“This game got away from us. We were moving the ball well and then just hit a wall.
“And that’s kind of been the season.”
Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich confirmed Rodgers will start the final game of the season, “barring injury”.
Rodgers was left furious after being given an unnecessary roughness call following an interception Rodgers, 41, could be seen laughing in shock on the sidelienesHowever, it remains unclear if he’ll return for season 21 – or if the Jets intend to keep him.
Rodgers also gave a cryptic answer on his future when asked: “I’m going to enjoy next week and then take some mental and physical rest.”
The defeat saw the Jets slump to 4-12, while the Bills moved to 13-3.
