A pair of Weld County communities are accepting real Christmas trees from residents following this holiday season.
Residents can drop off trees at locations in both Evans and Windsor, according to Facebook posts from both communities.
In Evans, residents can drop trees at the south end of the Evans Community Complex parking lot, 1100 37th St. The city will be accepting trees through Jan. 31, and will turn the trees into mulch to be used in city parks, according to the city of Evans Facebook post.
Windsor residents can drop trees off west of the roundabout on Windsor Lake Road, behind the new police station at 960 N. 15th St. Limit one tree per household, according to a Windsor town Facebook post. The town did not indicate how long it would be accepting Christmas trees, but drop-offs will only be accepted during daylight hours.
At both sites, trees must be natural and free of decorations, including wire hooks, tinsel, tags and lights. Artificial trees, wreaths, brush and other yard waste will not be accepted.
The Greeley Organic Waste center, 1150 25th Ave., is also accepting trees through the end of the year.
