Central Ohio Weather and Radar
FAYETTE AND MADISON COUNTIES ARE UNDER A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING UNTIL 2:15 P.M.
WIND ADVISORY UNTIL 11 P.M. SUNDAY NIGHT
A potent wave of low pressure will track through the region. Showers will persist through this evening, with gusty southwesterly winds gusting (30-45 mph).
A stray thunderstorm with a localized damaging wind potential, along with a small risk of an isolated tornado, if a squall develops and moves rapidly northeast late this afternoon.
Temperatures will peak in the low 60s, then drop through the 50s into the upper 40s later this evening following the passage of a cold front, as winds shift to the west. The wind will remain blustery through the night, gradually subsiding by morning with the departure of low pressure across the Great Lakes to Ontario.
Clouds and isolated sprinkles early Monday will give way to some afternoon sunshine. Temperatures will be cooler, but still mild for late December, near 50 degrees.
Another in a series of Pacific disturbance tracking from the central Plains to Ohio will bring periods of rain on Tuesday, but this time followed by seasonably cold air and a few snow showers on New Year's Eve, mixed with rain, and early on New Year's Day.
Colder air will prevail later in the week into the weekend, with temperatures below freezing, following the passage of an Alberta clipper system that could bring a few snow showers at the end of the week.
