Cardinals’ Trey McBride posts first 1,000-yard season of NFL career

Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride might not have the receiving touchdowns, but he definitely has the yards.

On a five-yard screen in the second quarter of Arizona’s Week 17 game against the Los Angeles Rams, McBride surpassed the 1,000-yard mark for the first time as a pro.

McBride marks just the second Arizona tight end in franchise history to hit 1,000 yards in a season. The first was Hall of Famer Jackie Smith, who ripped off 1,205 in 1967.

It’s been a career year for McBride, who had already surpassed his own franchise record for catches (81) by a Cardinals tight end with 92 before Saturday’s tilt.

In addition to his 1,000-yard mark, McBride is closing in on 100 catches.

With his three receptions for 46 yards in the first half, the tight end needs just five more catches to hit the century mark.

    Just missing one thing

The catches and the yards are nice, but seeing the goose egg in the receiving touchdown column is glaring.

Despite pacing the team in catches and yards, McBride has yet to catch a touchdown in 2024.

He’s done it on the ground and on a fumble recovery. Just not through the air.

Will that finally change in Week 17?
