December 26, 2024 (EL FASHER) – A drone operated by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) struck a Central Reserve Police base in El Fasher, North Darfur, late Wednesday. Eight police officers, including two first lieutenants, were killed in the attack. The RSF has increasingly deployed Chinese-made “Long Wing 2” drones in recent weeks, targeting both population centres and military bases in El Fasher. These attacks have resulted in numerous civilian casualties. The Sudanese army alleges that the United Arab Emirates supplied the drones to the RSF and claims some are being launched from within Chad. Military sources informed Sudan Tribune that an RSF drone circled El Fasher for an extended period Wednesday night before firing four missiles. The targets included the headquarters of the 6th Infantry Division and the Central Reserve Police base west of the city. The Central Reserve Police leadership confirmed the deaths, stating its officers were “martyred in the fields of honour in El Fasher while defending religion, land, and honour.”
