OBSESSING over weight is damaging our health, experts have warned.
It came as a poll found being too heavy was what people most wanted to change in 2025.
Fat jabs and fad diets mean many of us are not getting enough of the right types of food and lack vitamins, nutritionists say.
In a YouGov survey of 2,000 people, slimming was voted as the priority over improving sleep, mental health, jobs, fitness or boosting relationships.
In all, 22 per cent chose weight as the thing they most wanted to change.
Demand for weight loss jabs is rising but experts fear those taking them will pile the pounds back on by not changing to a healthy diet.
And the British Dietetic Association warned quick fixes meant people could struggle to control their weight in the long term.
Dietitian Priya Tew said: “People end up not eating enough, as well as cutting out entire food groups like carbohydrates.
“This can lead to overeating at other points as the body sends stronger hunger signals.”
Two thirds of British adults are overweight.
Half are classed as obese.
