Four girls soccer teams ranked in the Orange County preseason Top 10 are among the entries for this week’s Excalibur Tournament of Champions.
No. 2 Los Alamitos (5-2), No. 3 Capistrano Valley (3-2-2), No. 4 Mater Dei (4-2-2) and No. 6 Huntington Beach (7-1-2) lead the county teams for the event, which runs Thursday through Saturday. Tustin and Foothill’s turf fields are the host sites for the tournament.
Huntington Beach is the defending Excalibur champion.
Edison (4-4-1), El Dorado (5-1-3) and Rosary (2-3-1) are other county teams to watch.
Etiwanda (6-1-1), which faces Fairmont Prep (5-0-1) in the opening round Thursday, is a formidable non-county team.
Fairmont Prep won its lower division at the Best in the West tournament last weekend.
The tournament championship match is Saturday at Foothill High at 6:30 p.m.
