COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The holiday shopping season tends to be the busiest for shops and businesses. Local store owners say these last few weeks are playing a significant role in their bottom line.
Businesses say they see an influx of customers around the holidays. With more customers means more profits.
Kathy Miller opened Hyperbole Bookstore off Arrington Road with her daughter in 2023, but business isn’t always great.
Hyperbole Bookstore off Arrington road will stay open for Christmas Eve in hopes to see some last minute customers.(kbtx)“Holiday sales are huge,” Miller said. “We’ve only been open a little over a year, but we learned last year that we really need to take advantage of the holidays.”
This is Hyperbole Bookstore’s second holiday season. The owner says her last-minute shoppers have increased profits like no other. She says it’s so good that she plans to stay open on Christmas Eve to help bring in more business.
“Stocking stuffers, bookmarks, and fun little games and little puzzles. We just have a lot of things that especially help with last-minute shopping,” Miller explained.
Miller says sales are up 25% this holiday season.
“We had a Grinch fest on a Sunday afternoon. So we had the Grinch come in, and we had dozens and dozens of kids and their parents, Miller explained.
However, they aren’t the only local business loving all of the last-minute shoppers.
It’s festive over at Sabi Boutique off University drive east.(kbtx)“There’s never a dull moment in here. We are always busy during the Christmas season, but we feel so blessed to be so buddy,” Marisol Hernandez, Sabi Boutique Manager, says.
Hernandez at Sabi Boutique says the profits they’re seeing right now will help when things start to slow down again.
“The holiday months definitely helps give us a boost. Living in a college town, you have those slower summer months,” Hernandez said.
