This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Carolyn Koch.
Koch’s dog Vito just won Best in Show at the National Dog Show in Philadelphia, the first pug to ever do it. Vito is one of several dogs that Koch has taken to dog shows, but at just 2 years old, he’s already one of her most successful. But it’s what Koch does in our community that makes her a hometown hero. She and her husband Gary have set up a scholarship through UNC’s bio-statistic program. In the dog show world, she has set up several scholarships, including giving scholarships to two junior handlers and a graduate fellowship within the Canine Health Foundation that she set up in honor of a dog they had lost.
