Foothill has hired Jason Jellerson to be its new varsity football head coach, the school announced Monday.
Jellerson was an assistant coach at Foothill the past four seasons and at the school for eight years. He coached the Knights defensive backs this past season and has coached lacrosse at Foothill.
He replaces Doug Case, who retired at the end of the season, his 25th as Foothill’s head coach. The Knights finished 7-6 overall and 2-3 in the Epsilon League. They advanced to the CIF Southern Section Division 5 semifinals in which they lost 27-24 to eventual champion Palos Verdes.
Jellerson also has been an assistant coach at Anaheim High, where he was a teacher, and at Orange Lutheran.
He said he saw Foothill as presenting a great opportunity to pursue becoming a head coach.
“It was the right time and the right place and I felt prepared to do so,” Jellerson said. “It’s a great atmosphere with a great community and great kids.”
