If you aren’t someone who loves buying new pairs of shoes all of the time, you might just have one pair of gym shoes and that’s it. And while an extra pair of shoes is always nice to have, the expense of higher-end running shoes might stop you from buying them. Well, Aldi’s upcoming Aldi Finds drop includes a pair of cross trainers that are affordable and look similar to Nike and Allbirds styles that are five times the price.
From Dec. 25 to Dec. 31, Aldi will be selling Crane Mens or Ladies Memory Foam Crosstrainers for $14.99 in the Aldi Finds aisle of U.S. stores (while supplies last). There’s a gray shoe on the site, which is for men, but there’s also a light peach color for women (hence the listing stating “Mens or Ladies”). Both are pretty low-profile and sleek gym shoes that are pretty simple in their design.

Crane Mens or Ladies Memory Foam Crosstrainers, $14.99 at Aldi
Aldi
A representative for Aldi shared with Parade that these have a textile upper and textile lining. They also have a combination of solid and mesh-looking material making up that upper portion of the shoe.
Aldi
They also noted that it has a fly-knit sock, which might be similar to Nike’s Flyknit, which is: “A material made up of strong yet lightweight strands of yarn that have been woven into a one-piece upper, securing an athlete's foot to the shoe platform.” And lastly, these cross trainers have a phylon outsole, which is partly made with EVA foam.

Nike Flex Experience Run 12, $75 at Nike
Nike
In addition to these Aldi shoes having a “fly-knit sock” Nike connection, the women’s version looks like the Nike Flex Experience Run 12. These are currently $75 and are “women’s road running shoes.” While they don’t have a light peach color, their Light Wild Mango and Crimson Tint color evokes a similar vibe.
Even though these aren’t Nike Flyknits, it has a similar design and silhouette to Aldi’s. They’re a sleeker shoe that allows you to “move freely” because they’re so lightweight. Aldi’s narrow cross trainers are similar in that overall aesthetic. In addition to that, the upper part is “plush” and soft.
Men's Tree Runners, $68 (originally $98) at Allbirds
Allbirds
And lastly, Aldi’s cross trainers are also similar to Allbirds’s Men's Tree Runners, which are currently on sale for $68 (they were originally $98). The Mist color (with a white sole) are very similar to Aldi’s gray color for men. They are similarly narrow and “sleek,” making them ideal for runner (hence their name).
Allbirds, of course, have a lot going on, what with their sustainable and unique materials. But again, the overall silhouette is similar to Aldi’s shoes, and both are meant for running.
While Aldi’s cross trainers may not feel exactly the same as a pair of Nikes or Allbirds, they seem well-made for what you need them for. Plus they’re pretty affordable. So if you’re in the market for an extra (or new) pair of gym shoes, Aldi might be a good place to start your search.
