Although ESPN still owns the rights to all College Football Playoff games, the World Wide Leader agreed to sub-license some CFP contests to TNT earlier this year. This game between Penn State and SMU will be one of the games sub-licensed which means it won’t be available on any ESPN networks. Instead, fans will have to tune into TNT or steam the game on MAX (formerly HBO Max) in order to watch.

The other first-round CFP game that will be sub-licensed this year is the Clemson vs. Texas game, set to take place on Saturday afternoon. ESPN will then broadcast Tennessee vs. Ohio State in primetime on Saturday night.

Although TNT and MAX will be broadcasting the game, it will still be produced by ESPN crews. Mark Jones and Roddy Jones will be on the call in the booth for SMU vs. Penn State.
