Detroit Lions Injury Report: Final Designations for Bears Game

Detroit Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell offered updates on key injuries as the team prepares for a playoff run. Running back David Montgomery received encouraging news regarding his knee injury, avoiding the need for surgery.

However, his return timeline remains uncertain. Campbell explained that while Montgomery’s recovery appears optimistic, the team is still debating whether to place him on injured reserve. Doing so would sideline Montgomery for at least four weeks, so the Lions are weighing their options.

“We’ve got a decision to make,” Campbell said. “It’s about seeing how fast he can come back and what makes the most sense for us moving forward.”

“I think we may see where this thing goes,” Campbell said. “We’ve still got to a decision to make because even if that is the case, it’s a matter of do we put him on IR? Do you see how fast he can come back from it? All that, but it certainly sounds more optimistic.”

The news was less positive for cornerback Carlton Davis, who suffered a broken jaw in last week’s game against the Buffalo Bills. Campbell said Davis might return late in the playoffs, but that outcome appears unlikely. “It doesn’t look optimistic to get him back,” Campbell admitted. “It doesn’t mean it won’t happen, but I just don’t foresee that right now.”

Campbell also addressed injuries affecting this week’s matchup against the Chicago Bears. Center Frank Ragnow, who missed the first two days of practice this week, returned to the field on Friday. Similarly, offensive lineman Graham Glasgow practiced despite earlier expectations that he would sit out. On the defensive side, linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin returned to practice earlier in the week but is not expected to play on Sunday.
