Donovan has certainly had a fine NBA head-coaching career. He has 412 career wins over 10 seasons in the Association and a 55.2% winning percentage. In five seasons in charge of the Oklahoma City Thunder, he led them to five straight playoff appearances and got within a game of reaching the NBA Finals.
While his NBA career has been successful, it’s his college coaching career that has contributed most to his Hall of Fame nomination. Donovan won 70.9% of his games as a college head coach over 21 seasons – two at Marshall and 19 at Florida. His career took off as the head coach of the Gators where he won back-to-back national titles in 2006 and 2007.
Congrats, Billy!
