Barry Manilow Could Afford to Buy the Copacabana With His 2024 Net Worth

Barry Manilow is one of the most commercially successful recording artists of all time. He's sold over 75 million records worldwide, scored 13 No. 1 hits, and he has the net worth to prove it. The "Mandy" singer got his big break in the early 1970s working with Bette Middler, but has since made a household (and bankable) name for himself.

With hits like "Copacabana" and "Looks Like We Made It," Manilow has toured the world several times over and has amassed a massive fanbase affectionately called "Fanilows." The singer, who turned 81 in June, has spent much of the past year touring cities around the United States for his "The Last Concerts" tour.

Don't worry; Manilow isn't retiring. He's setting up shop in Las Vegas with a lifetime residency at the International Theater at the Westgate Resort and Casino. Westgate has been Manilow's Las Vegas performance home for a while now and this year, the singer surpassed Elvis Presley's record of 636 performances at the venue. Manilow's record will now be extended with his Westgate performances scheduled through the end of 2025, with potentially more to come.

So, how much does it pay to have a lifetime residency in Las Vegas when you've performed there more than Elvis? Let's break it down.

Manilow started his music career by writing commercial jingles. He's the mastermind behind State Farm's "Like a Good Neighbor" jingle. However, he is not rolling in dough from that gig, or for those writing jingles for McDonalds, KFC, and others. Manilow was paid $500 for State Farm's theme and does not get any residuals from the song.

The singer is not too bitter about losing the jingle residuals. He claims that writing jingles prepared him for a career in pop music. He signed to Columbia Records in the late 1960s. He didn't make a big splash in his first few years at the label, but he did score a gig playing piano for Bette Middler. He accompanied her on her Grammy-nominated album "The Divine Miss M" in 1973 and her self-titled album afterward. In 1975, Manilow penned "Mandy," which became the breakout hit that paved the way for his successful solo career.

"Mandy" led to the singer's first big paycheck. He told Forbes in 2017 that the royalties from the song earned him his first $1 million paycheck. Record executive Clive Davis cut him the check and handed it to him before a convention in San Diego. Little did Davis know that Manilow had bounced a check at his local grocery store in Manhattan so he could afford to attend the San Diego event.

How much is Barry Manilow worth?

Barry Manilow's net worth is $100 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. That number includes estimated album sales, performance contracts, and Manilow's known real-estate holdings.

The total sum of Manilow's current Vegas stint is not publicly available. However, in 2004, Billboard reported that his 1-year deal with Las Vegas Hilton brought in $60 million for the singer. At the time, it was the largest residency deal in Vegas, even surpassing Celine Dion's first residency paycheck. So it's likely that Manilow is earning millions each year for his current Vegas residency.

How much does Barry Manilow have in real estate?

Barry Manilow has moved around quite a bit. He's bought several homes in Malibu. He listed his first beach house for $2.71 million in 1994. He followed that up with a $3.55 million villa, which he sold in 2012 for $5.75 million, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The singer has also purchased properties in Las Vegas for his multiple residencies. His three-bedroom condo in the Park Towers luxury complex just off the Vegas strip listed for $2.2 million in 2015. The estimated value of Manilow's current houses is not publicly known, but you can bet it's worth several million.
