Celebrities Who Have Taken Ayahuasca
The New York Jets quarterback took viewers inside his ayahuasca trip in his December 2024 Netflix docuseries, Aaron Rodgers: Enigma.
“I would say that with other psychedelics, you go in thinking this is going to be a good time. I hunker down, like, ‘OK this is going to be tough,'” he said.
Chelsea Handler
Handler documented taking ayahuasca during an episode of her Netflix docuseries, Chelsea Does, later recalling her experience during a 2016 appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

"They call it 'purging.' You purge and then you have all these hallucinations about your childhood," the former late-night talk show host told Stephen Colbert. "It's very, very vivid, like vivid imagery."
After Colbert asked if that was a "good" thing, Handler jokingly replied, "Yeah. I had forgotten I love my sister. So I told her right away. I was like, 'Hey, girl! Love you again!'"
While appearing on David Letterman's Netflix show, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, in May 2022, Smith detailed the times he's taken ayahuasca. The King Richard actor told Letterman that he had gone on 14 "journeys" on the drug in Peru over a two-year period, which he called "the individual most hellish psychological experience" of his life.
"I realized that anything that happens in my life, I can handle it," Smith said. "I can handle any person I lose, I can handle anything that goes wrong in my life, I can handle anything in my marriage, I can handle anything that this life has to offer. That's part of the psychological training that happens in ayahuasca."
Lindsay Lohan
On her docuseries, Lindsay, which premiered on OWN in 2014, the Parent Trap actress got candid about trying ayahuasca.

"I did a really eye-opening experience of ayahuasca. It was really intense. I saw my whole life in front of me," Lohan shared. "And I had to let go of past things I was trying to hold on that were dark in my life. And physically, I felt it when I had this experience."
She added, "I think I saw myself die. It was insane. I saw myself being born. And I feel different ever since that – just being okay with the wreckage of my past, letting that go and starting fresh."
Jim Carrey
According to a deep dive on celebrities and ayahuasca published by The Hollywood Reporter in 2015, Carrey allegedly refused to "get off a mountain" during his experience until he believed he could earn $10 million per movie.
