Former LSU RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire thanks Kansas City after being waived by Chiefs

Former LSU RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire has seen his time with the Kansas City Chiefs come to an end, and he appears to be parting on good terms.

The Chiefs announced on Monday that they have waived Edwards-Helaire. The former Tiger took to social media to share his appreciation for the opportunity in Kansas City, where he has spent all 5 of his professional seasons.

Love ya KC! A family I didn’t know I needed, y’all made a Kid from Baton Rouge dreams come true! To Chiefs Kingdom , its all love and the support I had in troubling times will forever be unmatched from you guys! With love! ❤️ ?-Clydro ✌?

Edwards-Helaire leaves Kansas City having played in 48 games, making 32 starts. He has logged 441 carries for 1,845 yards, an average of 4.2 yards per carry, with 12 rushing touchdowns. He added 89 catches for 765 yards and 7 scores.

As a rookie, Edwards-Helaire posted the best numbers of his career. A 13-game starter in 2020, he rushed 181 times for 803 yards and 4 touchdowns.

In recent years, Edwards-Helaire saw his role with the Chiefs reduced with the emergence of Isiah Pacheco. Edwards-Helaire did not record any appearances during the 2024 regular season. He missed time as he continued to deal with PTSD stemming from an incident at LSU. He was eventually added to the active roster, but did not log playing time.

We’ll see what’s next for the 2019 national champion and 2-time Super Bowl champion (LVII, LVIII).
