Whoopi Goldberg and her fellow The View hosts explored the topic of "drones" spotted in the sky at night in New Jersey and a few other northeastern states recently, sharing their thoughts on what's behind the sightings.
On the Dec. 16 episode of the broadcast, Goldberg started discussing the "U.F.O. kinda things" before they showed clips of news shows attempting to find out who or what was behind the objects in the sky.

Politicians on news programs didn't appear to know much about the situation, leading the talk show hosts to consider whether or not the government has shared all known information.
After the clips ended, Goldberg addressed one moment in the video in which Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas said, "If there is any reason for concern...we will communicate with the American public accordingly."
"I don't know if they will!" she said, before referencing the secrecy around Area 51. Other The View hosts agreed that they thought the government might be withholding information, but Sara Haines felt like it was a good thing.
"I don't hate that they're not telling us," she said, arguing that it keeps any confidential information from other nations.
Alyssa Farah Griffin added, "It's very likely that there is a plausible explanation," but she noted that the lack of answers for the public makes the whole situation "a little eerie-looking."

The View also took a moment to consider the more far-fetched theory that the objects were aliens, leading Farah Griffin to joke, "If it’s aliens though, is now the time you’d come to Earth?"
"They could fit right in," countered Goldberg.
The Sister Act actress ended the conversation with her final theory, telling the audience, "I think [government officials] know what it is; I think they’re not going to really be able to say it."
"Or we’re going to get a really hell of a big party for New Year’s Eve," Goldberg quipped. "Well, why not? I mean, stranger things have happened."
The FBI and Department of Homeland Security issued a statement on Thursday, Dec. 12, in response to the growing public concern, saying, "We have no evidence at this time that the reported drone sightings pose a national security or public safety threat or have a foreign nexus."
The two organizations noted that they were working with state police to further investigate the sightings, but so far, "upon review of available imagery, it appears that many of the reported sightings are actually manned aircraft, operating lawfully."
