AFC Playoff Picture After Week 15

    4. Houston Texans (9-5) – z

The AFC enters the week with only three playoff spots available, with Kansas City, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and Houston having punched their tickets to the postseason. The Steelers are in the third seed as of this morning but only one game ahead of the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC North.

As it stands today, the three teams in possession of the AFC Wild Card spots all own playoff probabilities north of 88 percent. The AFC playoff picture is pretty buttoned up, save for some movement in the seeding.

The next closest team to the seventh-seeded Chargers is the Indianapolis Colts, who own a 6-8 record through Week 15. The Las Vegas Raiders are the only team left to play this week, but they’re not in the postseason conversation.

NFC Playoff Picture After Week 15

    3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-6)

Despite losing to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, the Detroit Lions still hold the NFC’s top seed through a tiebreaker over Philadelphia based on winning percentage in conference games. However, with Detroit suffering four season-ending injuries on Sunday against the Bills, their chances of remaining in that top spot ?or even atop the NFC North with Minnesota hot on their trail ?is in jeopardy down the stretch.

The Eagles look like the best team in the conference right now, especially following a victory over the Steelers on Sunday and factoring in the Lions’ injury woes.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers lead the NFC South right now and possess the third seed in the NFC playoff picture through a tiebreaker over the fourth-seeded Rams based on in-conference winning percentage. Tampa’s next closest opponent in the NFC South plays the Raiders on Monday Night Football in Las Vegas tonight. With a win, Atlanta would move to 7-7 on the season, and while still on the outside looking in at a competitive Wild Card race, the Falcons would be one game behind Tampa Bay in the NFC South with three games to play.

The Falcons swept the Buccaneers in their head-to-head matchups this season, giving them the tiebreaker over Tampa Bay if they finished the season with equal records. Tampa Bay will face the Cowboys (on the road), Panthers (home), and Saints (home) to finish the season. Atlanta will take on the Giants (home), Commanders (road), and Panthers (home) in their final three games. So, Tampa Bay may hold a one-game lead over Atlanta (and a playoff berth) today, but they will have to be perfect down the stretch if they want to keep that spot.

Outside of that potential battle down the stretch, the Rams and Seahawks enter the day with equal records, but Los Angeles owns the tiebreaker due to the head-to-head win percentage. The Rams and Seahawks will meet in Week 18, and that game could determine who wins the division and gets that guaranteed playoff berth.
