IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — Eighty years ago, a soldier from Irondequoit, Dick Brookins, transformed into Santa Claus for children in the war-torn town of Wiltz, Luxembourg. This remarkable act of kindness is still celebrated today. Last weekend, a special celebration took place in Wiltz, Luxembourg, with Brookins’ son as the honored guest. The event commemorated the anniversary of this heartwarming story, which News10NBC Chief Investigative Reporter Berkeley Brean previously covered.
