Anderson broke her first World Record in 1963 shortly after her 15th birthday when she set a new World Record in the 200 meter butterfly in 2:29.1. That record stood for almost a year. In the summer of 1964, she represented the United States at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. There, she swam in the heats of the women’s 400 medley relay, where the team of Nina Harmer (backstroke), Judy Reeder (breaststroke), Pitt (fly), and Lillian Watson (free) won their heat. The finals group would go on to win gold, though at the time medals were not awarded to prelims only relay swimmer
