The New Cairo Prosecution office on Tuesday has moved to refer singer Amr Diab to the Misdemeanor Court over slapping a young fan during a party at a major hotel in Cairo. The New Cairo Misdemeanor Court set this November to begin the artist’s trial. The case began after a video clip from the wedding of producer Mohamed al-Saadi’s daughter went viral, which fan Osama al-Kotari trying to take a selfie picture with Diab after his segment ended and then getting slapped in the face. Diab did not respond to the outrage over the incident and has closed comments on all his official social media accounts.
