November 12, 2024 (UNITED NATIONS) – Sudan called on the U.N. Security Council on Tuesday to back a joint national and regional mechanism to oversee the implementation of the Jeddah Declaration, a fragile ceasefire agreement between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The call comes as Britain prepares to introduce a draft resolution to the council to establish a “compliance mechanism” to ensure the implementation of the agreement signed on May 11.
