The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is anticipated to be a significant advancement in the realm of foldable smartphones, combining cutting-edge technology with user-centric design. This device is expected to feature a robust foldable display that not only enhances the visual experience but also provides users with the versatility of a compact device that can expand for larger tasks. The incorporation of Google's proprietary software, including enhanced artificial intelligence capabilities and seamless integration with Google services, is likely to position the Pixel 9 Pro Fold as a formidable competitor in an increasingly crowded market.
In terms of specifications, rumors suggest that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be equipped with a high-resolution OLED display, offering vibrant colors and deep contrasts. It is also expected to house Google's latest Tensor chip, which would significantly improve processing power and efficiency compared to its predecessors. Furthermore, advancements in camera technology are anticipated, potentially featuring upgraded sensors and computational photography features that have become synonymous with the Pixel brand. These enhancements aim to cater to both casual users and professional photographers alike.
We’re now getting very close to the Google Pixel 9’s August 13 launch, but the latest wave of leaks has left us a little less excited about it.
One thing you can be almost certain of with a new mainline Pixel is that it will launch with a new version of Android, yet this year that may not be the case, with Android Headlines claiming that the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold will ship with Android 14 rather than Android 15.
One of the big criticisms of the original Pixel Fold was that it did not unfold completely flat. While most other foldables also didn’t unfold completely to 180 degrees, this was much more noticeable on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. But Google is showing here that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold does unfold completely flat, even in its promo video.
On the backs of Samsung's and Apple's AI push, expect Google to expand on its Gemini offerings during its August event. The company reportedly plans to brand its latest AI features under "Google AI."
The suite of ecosystem-exclusive tools will include old-timers like Circle to Search, as well as newer features like "Add Me," which is rumored to let you add different faces and people into group photos, and "Pixel Screenshots," which would let you find information based on screenshots captured in the background.
The device itself is dressed in a sleek Obsidian black, one of the expected color options for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The case, in contrast, sports a Porcelain finish. These color choices match the rumors we’ve been hearing.
As seen in the picture, the phone flaunts the same quirky camera setup and sleek curved front display we’ve seen in official teasers and leaks, and it’s impressively slim. The camera bump isn't as noticeable as we thought, probably thanks to the case it's in.
