Russian figure skater Alena Kostornaia picked up her second ISU Grand Prix win of the season as the teenager claimed top spot in Japan, while countrywoman Alina Zagitova finished third. Sitting first after the short program, Kostornaia, 16, topped the free program rankings with a score of 154.96 – giving her a combined total of 240.00. That was enough to finish comfortably ahead of 17-year-old local favorite Rika Kihira, who scored 151.95 for her free program and 231.84 overall.
