Disgraced actor Jussie Smollett is suing the city of Chicago for malicious prosecution, saying he was subjected to “humiliation and extreme distress” after having falsely claimed to be the victim of a racist and homophobic attack. In a lawsuit filed on Tuesday, lawyers for the ‘Empire’ actor also said that the Chicago police department “obtained false, self-serving and unreliable statements” from the Osundairo brothers – the two men Smollett paid to help with the hoax hate crime, who claim that the entire incident had been orchestrated by the actor.
