Tragedy struck a North Phoenix residence when an argument between roommates escalated into a horrific murder-suicide. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday evening, left two individuals dead and shocked the local community.
The details surrounding the argument remain unclear, but neighbors reported hearing loud shouting coming from the residence before gunshots were heard. Police arrived at the scene shortly after receiving multiple 911 calls and discovered the bodies of the two roommates inside.
As police searched the home, they found 44-year-old Ryan Liming dead from a gunshot wound, and 55-year-old James Quinn dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
After speaking to witnesses and reviewing evidence, detectives believe there was a disagreement between Liming and Quinn earlier in the evening. According to Phoenix PD, Quinn later shot and killed Liming, then turned the gun on himself sometime after.
When Deanda was apartment searching with her sister, she realized the apartment lifestyle wasn’t for her. Being so far from home, Deanda wanted something homier, roomier and without an upstairs neighbor or having to share close quarters.
She found a gated BTR community in the quiet suburban city of Surprise that checked all the boxes on her list. The community consisted of one- and two-bedroom homes for rent.
“We (Deanda and her sister) wanted something that would feel like home, we could decorate ourselves,” Deanda said. “We wanted something gated to be safe. We wanted to live in a good community.”
Officers spoke with a woman who said her boyfriend was found shot inside the home and had heard another gunshot inside the residence later, Krynsky said.
