Rupert Murdoch, the media mogul and billionaire, recently made headlines once again as he tied the knot for the fifth time at the age of 93. This news has sparked both curiosity and speculation among the public about his decision to embark on marriage yet again at such an advanced age.
One can't help but wonder about the motivations behind Murdoch's latest nuptials. Is it a quest for companionship in his golden years, or perhaps a desire for stability and security? Some may argue that his wealth and status play a significant role in attracting partners despite his age, while others may view it as a genuine search for love and connection.
Zhukova studied at the University of California, Los Angeles, according to a New York Times report in March. In her career as a molecular biologist, she focused on diabetes. Zhukova is also the ex-wife of Alexander Zhukov, a billionaire energy investor and Russian politician. Their daughter, Dasha, was previously married to Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, who used to own the Premier League soccer club Chelsea. Abramovich was an early target of Western sanctions after the Kremlin first invaded Ukraine in 2022.
After Murdoch stepped down as leader of both Fox News' parent company and his News Corp media holdings, his son, Lachlan, took his place in a media empire that spans continents and helped to shape modern American politics.
Murdoch began his media empire in 1952 when he inherited a newspaper from his father in Adelaide, Australia, according to the Associated Press. He would later buy several publications in the U.K. and the U.S., including the News of the World, the Sun, the New York Post and the Wall Street Journal, according to BBC.
He launched Fox News in 1996 and started the Fox broadcast network, which was the first network to successfully challenge the “Big Three” of broadcasting, ABC, CBS and NBC.
Murdoch was most recently married to former supermodel Jerry Hall. The couple divorced in 2022.
In March 2023, Murdoch proposed to Ann Lesley Smith but the engagement was called off two weeks later.
Murdoch, who built a global media empire after inheriting the Adelaide-based The News newspaper in the 1950s, in November stepped down as the head of both Fox News’s parent company and his News Corp media holdings.
Murdoch’s surprise resignation handed control of the media stable, which includes Fox News, The Times of London and The Wall Street Journal, to his son, Lachlan.
