On a cool evening in Madrid, the Santiago Bernabeu stadium played host to a highly anticipated La Liga match between Real Madrid and Real Betis. The match ended in a goalless draw, with both teams showcasing solid defensive performances.
Real Madrid, led by their star player Karim Benzema, dominated possession throughout the game but struggled to break through Betis' organized defense. Despite numerous attempts on goal, they were unable to find the back of the net.
On the other hand, Real Betis put up a resilient performance, with their goalkeeper Daniel Martin making crucial saves to deny Real Madrid any scoring opportunities. Their defensive solidity frustrated the home team and earned them a valuable point on the road.
Real Madrid fans and teammates paid tribute to a tearful Toni Kroos on Saturday as the midfielder played his last game at the Santiago Bernabeu before retiring from football this summer.
Kroos -- who announced his decision to retire this week -- played 87 minutes of Madrid's 0-0 LaLiga draw with Real Betis.
Kroos shocked the football world earlier this week when announcing that he will retire following the European Championships with Germany.
This therefore made the weekend's Madrid clash against Real Betis not just his team's last match of a La Liga title-winning campaign, but also his final appearance before fans at the Bernabeu ahead of the Champions League decider at Wembley on June 1 where Los Blancos will take on Borussia Dortmund.
Regular starter in 2023/2024 Kroos was once more given the nod by Carlo Ancelotti and was the subject of a stunning tifo before kick off
Real Madrid are coming off a thrilling 4-4 draw against Villarreal last time out, and will look to make it four games with at least four goals - having done so against Alaves and Granada as well.
They'll also be keen to extend their record for the longest unbeaten run in LaLiga history, which currently stands at 31 games.
When it comes to Real Betis, the Andalusian side saw their six-match unbeaten run come to a halt last time out with a 2-0 defeat at home to Real Sociedad, in what was just their third home defeat of the campaign.
