$20,000 offered to help Grand County ranchers fend off wolves that are killing calves
On-the-ground help for ranchers in Grand County is on the way under an agreement with the Middle Park Stockgrowers Association and the Colorado Department of Agriculture. The move will help ranchers fend off wolves during calving season and implement non-lethal conflict reduction methods that are successful in other states. The agriculture department says it will spend $20,000 on nonlethal deterrents, including nighttime patrols and herd protection in a region where two wolves have killed six cows and one wolf is thought to be pregnant or with pups in the same region.  The department added it and Colorado Parks and Wildlife are expanding their permanent wolf conflict mitigation pr
